Our story

Built by a chef. Used in real kitchens for 25 years.

Brian Beattie is a Michelin-trained chef who co-founded Mange Tout, a multi-site hospitality group. For years it ran at 71% gross profit — and we thought we were doing well. Then a proper look at our ingredient data showed we were leaving between €76,000 and €84,000 a year on the table. A more rigorous approach to recipe and ingredient costing brought that GP up to 75%. That difference paid for the system many times over.

It began as an internal Excel system to control our own kitchens. It worked so well that it became Prepsheets — recipe intelligence software for professional kitchens everywhere.

The team

Founder-led, chef-built

Brian Beattie, Michelin-trained chef and co-founder, leads the product and customer-facing side of the business. Tara Beattie, co-founder and CEO, runs marketing, business development and customer support. Together with senior engineer Michael Norman, the team builds Prepsheets around how kitchens actually work — because we've run them.

Compliance, done properly

Built on EU food law from day one

Prepsheets was built to comply with the EU Food Information to Consumers regulation (FIC Regulation 1169/2011), in force since 2014 — the foundation for allergen and nutritional declarations across Ireland and the EU. We've since built to more stringent layers on top, including the UK's Natasha's Law. Our ingredient data model covers all 14 EU/UK allergens with sub-category detail, and all 9 US allergens including sesame.
